The good side is that more people recognise our music. The bad one is that the commercial aspect prevails over the art. People make money from art. Consequently there are more opportunists and fewer passionate fellows.

Sarkozy, le nouveau président, qu’est-ce que tu en penses ? Comment le rap français va y réagir ? How do you see the fact that Sarkozy is the new French president? How will the French rap react on this?

Bon, personnellement, je trouve que Sarko est un Bush junior. Il est radical et très capitaliste. Le coté social va moins se faire ressentir. Il mène une politique de répression et il divise la France en deux pour mieux régner. Quant au rap, je ne pense pas que les choses vont changer, car beaucoup de rappeurs s’en foutent totalement. Le rap bling-bling a pris le dessus sur le rap à texte. Peut-être que le rap engagé va revenir sur le front ? Well, personally I think that Sarkozy is a Bush junior. He is radical and very capitalist. The social aspects will be less tangible. He pursues a politic of repression and divides France in two to rule easier. What concerns the rap, I don’t think that things will change because many rappers are totally indifferent anyway. The bling-bling rap has taken the upper hand over the rap of lyrics. Maybe the concerned rap will return?
